Commencement Ticket Information

Engineering Students who wish to participate in the 2023 Commencement should follow each step below.  Following each step will ensure you meet all eligibility requirements to participate in your respective ceremony and be activated for student ticket ordering.  

We also ask that your email address in MyUCLA is kept up to date and that you pay attention to messages that may be coming from the UCLA engineering domain @seas.ucla.edu. This includes making sure your spam filters are updated so that commencement messages do not go to junk/spam.

  • FALL 2022 graduates with degrees conferred are automatically eligible to participate and may proceed to Steps 2 – 4

  • WINTER 2023 graduates should automatically be eligible to participate and may proceed to Steps 2 – 4

  • SPRING 2023 and SUMMER 2023 are eligible to participate and will receive updates if they complete or have completed Steps 1 – 4

  • FALL 2023 students are not automatically eligible to participate in this year’s engineering commencement.  However, if you would like to “walk/participate” this year, please make sure you complete or have completed Step 1 and read additional info below.


 

Step 1

Students need to convey  their intent to graduate Spring 2023 or Summer 2023 directly with your engineering student affairs office

UNDERGRADUATES

Engineering Undergraduates do this by completing the required online  degree audit process.
Please do this no later than April 17, 2023.

GRADUATES (MS/MEng/PHD)
Engineering Graduate students do this by notifying your department graduate student affairs office no later than Monday, April 17, 2023.

SPECIAL REQUEST –  THESE ARE FALL 2023 DEGREE CANDIDATES WHO WISH TO “WALK” THIS SPRING

BEGIN WITH STEP 1, which you may complete as early as week 1 of Spring 2023 and no later than Monday, April 17, 2023.
Note, that students can not move on to the next steps without having done this initial step.

Undergraduates who complete the degree audit process (STEP 1 above) and indicate YES on the Special Request Option of the degree candidacy form are automatically approved!  Please begin to pay attention to e-mail notices from commencement@seas.ucla.edu (make sure they do NOT go to your spam folder) and you can now move on to STEP 2 below.

Graduates who informed their graduate student affairs office and provided their information are also automatically approved!  Please begin to pay attention to e-mail notices from commencement@seas.ucla.edu (make sure they do NOT go to your spam folder) and you can now move on to STEP 2 below.

If you recently completed STEP 1 then please allow 48-72 business hours to move on to the next step and gain access to the Exit Survey.


 

Step 2

Login/Complete your respective Exit Survey

 

Please select your respective Exit Survey. 

We ask that you complete the survey in one sitting and that you
do not exit or close out as this may result in an error.

Undergrads will have to click on the ‘finish’ button to record that they have completed the Senior Exit Survey 100%.  Once they have clicked the ‘finish’ button it will guide them back to the UCLA website.
Graduates, once logged in to the Graduate Exit Survey select the banner at the top.  If you do not see the banner notification; this means you have not been added, please reach out to your department graduate student affairs office.

If you do not have access to the survey please make sure you have completed STEP 1.
If you recently completed the Exit Survey then please allow 48-72 business hours to gain access to ticket ordering.


 

Step 3

ORDER YOUR STUDENT TICKET AND YOUR GUEST TICKETS

 

THE TICKET ORDERING TIMELINE via MYUCLA HAS PASSED.
THE DEADLINE WAS 05/29 11:59PM.

 

LATE TICKET REQUESTS – Students who missed the deadline and would like to participate and order tickets can contact us through the MyUCLA engineering commencement message center and provide the following information no later than Thursday, June 8, 2023:

  • Degree Term:

  • Degree Type (BS/MS/MEng./PHD):

  • CEREMONY:  Saturday, June 17, 2023 (BS) or Sunday, June 17, 2023 (MS/MEng/PHD)

  • Guest Tickets No. (10 max):

  • Acknowledgement – Yes, I confirm that I understand that the first 4 tickets are free. Additional tickets beyond 4 will incur a $20.00 charge; no refunds.

EXTRA TICKET REQUESTS  – Students who already ordered tickets, but would like to be considered for more tickets beyond their current order can submit requests through the engineering commencement message center and provide the following information:

  • CEREMONY:  Saturday, June 17, 2023 (BS) or Sunday, June 18, 20223 (MS/MEng/PHD)

  • NO. OF EXTRA TICKETS BEING REQUESTED:

  • Acknowledgement – Yes, I confirm that I understand that the first 4 tickets are free. Additional tickets beyond 4 will incur a $20.00 charge; no refunds.

All late ticket and extra ticket requests will be reviewed and subject to availability.


ABOUT THE CEREMONY:

  • UNDERGRADUATE (BS) – Saturday, June 17, 2023  12:30PM – 3:30PM (estimated 3 hours)
    All students participating will have their names read, will cross the stage, and have photos taken by Grad Images (the official campus photo team)
  • GRADUATE (MS/MEng/PHD) – Sunday, June 18, 2023  1:30PM – 3:30PM (estimated 2 hours)
    All students participating will have their names read, will cross the stage, and have photos taken by Grad Images (the official campus photo team)
    Additionally, PHD students will be hooded on stage.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Students who elect to participate in commencement agree to remain for the full length of the ceremony out of respect for your fellow students and their families.


 

TICKET DELIVERY METHOD AND BILLING PROCESS


TICKET DELIVERY METHOD –  DIGITAL TICKETS WILL BE SENT VIA E-MAIL
The UCLA Central Ticket Office will be sending digital electronic tickets via e-mail to your e-mail address (as it is indicated in MyUCLA).  The tickets will be sent from cto@tickets.ucla.edu.  Please make sure your SPAM Filters do not block cto@tickets.ucla.edu 

Distribution will begin Tuesday, May 30, 2023 through June 15, 2023 and occur on a rolling basis as CTO begin to fulfill all orders.   

You will receive e-mail messages from cto@tickets.ucla.edu that contain links for you to receive your tickets.  You will receive one e-mail message for your student participation ticket and one e-mail message for your guest tickets.  Be sure you check the email account you have on record in MyUCLA, and check that email account’s spam folder for your ticket messages.  Check your spam folder frequently, as you don’t want to miss receiving your tickets.  Some email providers empty spam folders regularly.

NOTE: If you are attending multiple ceremonies, for example you are a double major with the College of Letters and Science or you are PHD student also participating in the Graduate Division Hooding then note that you will receive separate student ticket e-mails and separate guest e-mails for each ceremony.  Therefore, you may receive a total of four email messages with links for you to claim your tickets for each ceremony.  We advise you pay close attention to your e-mail notices and digital ticket information.

THE BILLING PROCESS

Charges related to Commencement events will be posted to your Bruin Bill.  There will be two billing cycles where you will may see charges posted.

  • First Billing Cycle:  Tuesday, May 30, 2023
  • Second Billing Cycle: Thursday, June 22, 2023

Charges for tickets are assessed when the order is placed in MyUCLA .  The first four guest tickets are free; each additional guest ticket will be charged $20.00.  Once ordered, students are charged for guest tickets and parking permits whether or not they are picked up or used.  No refunds are issued. 

 


 

Step 4

VERIFY YOUR PRIVACY RESTRICTION AND CONFIRM YOUR NAME LISTING

 

  • MAY 15, 2023 – Initial DEADLINE HAS PASSED –  Students were asked to verify their names by 05/15 (original initial deadline).
  • MAY 21, 2023 – extended courtesy DEADLINE HAS PASSED – A final courtesy check was extended to Sunday, May 21, 2023 11:59PM (PDT).

FALL 2022, WINTER 2023, SPRING 2023, and SUMMER 2023 were sent numerous emails and notifications to check and update their privacy settings and names.

NOTE: FALL 2023 Students – You are NOT listed in this year’s program brochure. Reminder, you have been approved to “Walk” this year as a Special Request.  Your are officially part of next year’s class.

THE DEADLINE TO CHECK YOUR NAME AND UPDATE PRIVACY RESTRICTIONS IN ORDER TO MEET THE PRINTING DEADLINE HAS PASSED.
