Commencement Ticket Information

Engineering Students who wish to participate in the 2024 Commencement should follow each step below.  Following each step will ensure you meet all eligibility requirements to participate in your respective ceremony and be activated for student ticket ordering.

We also ask that your email address in MyUCLA is kept up to date and that you pay attention to messages that may be coming from the UCLA engineering domain @seas.ucla.edu. This includes making sure your spam filters are updated so that commencement messages do not go to junk/spam.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Students who elect to participate in commencement agree to remain for the full length of the ceremony out of respect for your fellow students and their families.

Step 1 (REQUIRED)

Students need to convey their intent to graduate directly with your engineering student affairs office no later than Monday, April 15, 2024.

  • FALL 2023 graduates with degrees conferred are automatically eligible to participate and may proceed to Steps 2 – 4

  • WINTER 2024 graduates should automatically be eligible to participate and may proceed to Steps 2 – 4

  • SPRING 2024 and SUMMER 2024 are eligible to participate and will receive updates if they complete or have completed Steps 1 – 4

  • FALL 2024 students are not automatically eligible to participate in the engineering commencement.  Students who wish to  “walk/participate” this year should review the “SPECIAL REQUEST” information below and complete  Step 1

UNDERGRADUATES

Engineering Undergraduates for Spring 2024*, Summer 2024 and Fall 2024 indicate they plan to graduate by completing the required online  degree audit process.
Please make sure you have completed the degree audit process no later than Monday, April 15, 2024.   It is the degree audit process that flags an undergraduate for commencement and allows them to move on to the senior exit survey and commencement ticketing.

*NOTE SPRING 2024 students should have completed the degree audit process last quarter, Winter 2024.

GRADUATES (MEng/MS/PHD)
Engineering Graduate students indicate they plan to graduate by notifying their respective department graduate student affairs office no later than Monday, April 15, 2024.  Our office receives the list of eligible graduate students directly from your engineering graduate office/department.  If they do not have your name then we do not have your name.  Please review engineering department contacts below:

SPECIAL REQUEST –  THESE ARE FALL 2024 DEGREE CANDIDATES WHO WISH TO “WALK” THIS SPRING

Fall 2024 students cannot move on to the next steps without having completed STEP 1 (notified your student affairs unit) and indicating they are Special Request by Monday, April 15, 2024.

Undergraduates who complete the degree audit process (STEP 1 above) and indicate YES on the Special Request Option of the degree candidacy form are automatically approved!  Please begin to pay attention to e-mail notices from commencement@seas.ucla.edu (make sure they do NOT go to your spam folder) and you can now move on to STEP 2 below.

Graduates who informed their graduate student affairs office and provided their information(STEP 1 above) are also automatically approved!  Please begin to pay attention to e-mail notices from commencement@seas.ucla.edu (make sure they do NOT go to your spam folder) and you can now move on to STEP 2 below.

If you recently completed STEP 1 then please allow 48-72 business hours to move on to the next step and gain access to the Exit Survey.

Step 2 (REQUIRED)

Login/Complete your respective Exit Survey

Please select your respective Exit Survey.

We ask that you set aside 15-20 minutes to complete the survey in one sitting and that you
do not exit or close out as this may result in an error.

Students will receive a confirmation e-mail once they have completed the entire survey.  Students who complete the survey beginning Friday, May 3 may need to wait 72 hours (3 business days) to access ticket ordering via MyUCLA.  If you are having issues accessing the survey, please make sure you have completed STEP 1 (initiating the degree audit process for undergraduates).

Once logged in PHD/MS/MEng students select the yellow banner at the top.  If you do not see the banner notification; this means you have not been added to the survey.  Please review STEP 1 (notify your graduate student affairs unit of your intent to graduate).

Step 3B

In MyUCLA – VERIFY YOUR YOUR NAME LISTING and UPDATE YOUR PRIVACY SETTINGS

Students were asked to update their privacy settings AND verify their lived names being used for the printed/online program by Monday, May 13, 2024.  This was extended to Monday, May 20th 11:59PM (for the MyUCLA Commencement Name feature).  All deadlines have passed for making these updates.  Students that still had privacy restrictions will be removed from the program.

Students can go to the Commencement Program Brochure Page to review a current DRAFT of the program:
https://commencement.seas.ucla.edu/2024-program/

NOTE THAT  ALL STUDENTS “WALKING”  WILL HAVE THEIR NAMES ANNOUNCED AS THEY CROSS THE STAGE FOR THE CEREMONY  (This is separate from the printed/online program brochure)
Please note that for crossing the stage at commencement  graduates will be given a name reader card at the student line up where you will write how you want your name announced as you cross the stage.

Step 4 – Review Ticket Delivery and Billing Process

Commencement tickets are completely digital/mobile and accessible using Apple Wallet/Google Pay & Print at Home.
The UCLA Central Ticket Office (CTO) will be sending digital electronic tickets via e-mail to your e-mail address (as it is indicated in MyUCLA).  The tickets will be sent from cto@tickets.ucla.edu.
Please make sure your SPAM Filters do not block cto@tickets.ucla.edu

Distribution by e-mail from cto@tickets.ucla.edu will begin Tuesday, May 28, 2024 through June 13, 2024 and occur on a rolling basis as CTO begins to fulfill all orders.

You will receive e-mail messages from cto@tickets.ucla.edu that contain links for you to receive your tickets.  You will receive one e-mail message for your student participation ticket and one e-mail message for your guest tickets.  Be sure you check the email account you have on record in MyUCLA, and check that email account’s spam folder for your ticket messages.  Check your spam folder frequently, as you don’t want to miss receiving your tickets.  Some email providers empty spam folders regularly!

NOTE: If you are attending multiple ceremonies, for example you are a double major with the College of Letters and Science or you are PHD student also participating in the Graduate Division Hooding then note that you will receive separate student ticket e-mails and separate guest e-mails for each ceremony.  Therefore, you may receive a total of four email messages with links for you to claim your tickets for each ceremony.
We advise you pay close attention to your e-mail notices and digital ticket information.

THE BILLING PROCESS

Charges related to Commencement events will be posted to your Bruin Bill.  There will be two billing cycles where you may see charges posted.

  • First Billing Cycle:  Thursday, May 30, 2024
  • Second Billing Cycle:  Tuesday, June 18, 2024

Charges for tickets are assessed when the order is placed in MyUCLA .  The first four guest tickets are free; each additional guest ticket will be charged $20.00.  Once ordered, students are charged for guest tickets whether or not they are picked up or used.  NO REFUNDS ARE ISSUED.
