Fall 2025 students cannot move on to the next steps without having completed STEP 1 and indicating they are Special Request by Friday, April 18, 2025.
B.S. Undergraduates who complete the degree audit process (STEP 1 above) and indicate YES on the Special Request Option of the degree candidacy form are automatically approved! Please begin to pay attention to e-mail notices from commencement@seas.ucla.edu (make sure they do NOT go to your spam folder) and you can now move on to STEP 2 below.
Ph.D., M.S., M.Eng. Graduates who completed STEP 1 and selected “Yes, I am a Special Request to walk this June 2025” are also automatically approved! Please begin to pay attention to e-mail notices from commencement@seas.ucla.edu (make sure they do NOT go to your spam folder) and you can now move on to STEP 2 below.
If you recently completed STEP 1 then please allow 48-72 business hours to move on to the next step and gain access to the Exit Survey.
Step 2 (REQUIRED) – Login/Complete your respective Exit Survey
Please select your respective Exit Survey.
We ask that you set aside 15-20 minutes to complete the survey in one sitting and that you do not exit or close out as this may result in an error.
Students will receive a confirmation e-mail once they have completed the entire survey. Students who complete the survey beginning Friday, May 2 may need to wait 72 hours (3 business days) to access ticket ordering via MyUCLA. If you are having issues accessing the survey, please make sure you have completed STEP 1 (initiating the degree audit process for undergraduates).
Once logged in PHD/MS/MEng students select the yellow banner at the top. If you do not see the banner notification; this means you have not been added to the survey. Students who complete the survey beginning Friday, May 2 may need to wait 72 hours (3 business days) to access ticket ordering via MyUCLA. Please review STEP 1 (notify your graduate student affairs unit of your intent to graduate).
If you do not have access to the survey please make sure you have completed STEP 1.
Step 3 (OPTIONAL) – Complete Online Name Card Registration
Engineering students will have the option to complete an online name card registration form.* This will also allow us to display your name on the Pauley screen as it is announced while you cross the stage. The online form will ask how you would like your name displayed, as well as, the phonetic spelling of your name (your name the way it sounds). For help on your phonetic spelling, the form will have an example but you can also reference these guidelines.
Beginning the week of May 5, 2025, students will receive a customized link to their official UCLA email on file from commencement@seas.ucla.edu. Please make sure to update your filters so that emails from commencement@seas.ucla.edu do not go to your Spam/Trash folder.
Students who have FERPA, ALL PUBLIC INFORMATION and/or PRIVACY EMAIL RESTRICTIONS will NOT be sent an email with a link to complete the Online Name Card Registration. A generic card will be available for you to complete the phonetic spelling and pronunciation of your name. Your name will NOT be displayed on the Pauley screen during the ceremony as it is announced while you cross the stage.
Students who update their FERPA, ALL PUBLIC INFORMATION and/or PRIVACY EMAIL RESTRICTIONS after May 5, 2025 should send a message via MyUCLA Message Center so that we know to send you a link to complete the Online Name Card Registration. Please make these changes by Friday, May 16, 2025 to ensure that we can send you the link to the online name card registration before the deadline below.
*Please note that you will be asked to provide your preferred email address on this link and, if you do so, you are consenting to receiving pictures and messages from GradImages, who are the photographers for our commencement ceremonies.
